We run on our volunteers at PATH. We currently have about 40 volunteers working each month to make our operation happen. We always welcome new volunteers for the assistance center, and you can work one day a week, or one day every other week, or one a month, however you’d like to tailor it. The hours of 9am-1pm on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday are available. You can work in the pantry/warehouse, which involves filling orders, restocking shelves, putting away donations, and keeping records. Or you can work as an intake volunteer, interviewing clients and filling out their paperwork and keeping the files. Our Thrift Store at 31 N Congress St also very much needs volunteers. They are open 9-5 every day except Wed and Sunday, and 9-12 on Saturdays. We also love to be anyone’s project! Youth groups, schools, Sunday school classes, book groups, garden clubs, boy and girl scout troops, ROTC, students needing community service, etc, have done all kinds of services for us, as well as food drives. We also welcome hobbyists (gardeners, woodworkers, fixer-upers, that kind of thing). You too can be a part of the help net for our district residents in such need. One of thousands and thousands of stories involves an elderly lady living completely alone in an outlying area. She has only Social Security for income, and struggles much with her diabetes. Her propane tank was completely empty last fall, and attempts to make arrangements with the provider were to no avail. It was a full tank or go without heat, at her age and in her isolated condition. We were able to fill her tank, so she has heat for the winter. Please consider being a part of God’s work here in York school district #1. We have a great time and the gratitude you receive is overwhelming.
